TSX System Crashes: What To Do

Most times that TSX crashes you will be able to take a crash dump. Click here if you are unable to take a crash dump and we might be able to help you but things are getting pretty bad.

This page contains instructions for how to take a crash dump and what to do after you have taken it. When your sytem crashes you will get a DB> prompt. Insert a diskette into either drive A or B and type "CRASH A" or "CRASH B". Do NOT put a colon after the A or B. TSX will begin copying the contents of system memory onto the diskettes. The number of diskettes it takes depends on how much of your system's memory was in use by TSX, but 3 is typical.

These diskettes will not contain a valid DOS file structure. Instead, a program named READDUMP is used to read the contents of the diskettes into a crash dump file which we can analyze. After you take the crash dump you can either send us the diskettes in the mail or read them back with READDUMP and FTP the crash dump to us. If you want to take the FTP route, you will need a file from our File Library named READDUMP.ZIP.
