For now let's take a question people commonly ask: sometime people try to connect to an IRC server which refuses to give them access, saying that you don't have an "ident server". This is true, TSX does not support IDENT. We have downloaded the RFC for IDENT, and looked at it. The RFC warns against using this protocol, which is used to identify sites, for any security reason whatsoever, yet for some reason some IRC sites insist on it. We think that it is notable that something as harmless as a chat system should be so riddled with unnecessary security checks. Perhaps these people need to get a life!
